Association, Inc. Mission Statement
Networking hoof trimmers, veterinarians, nutritionists, dairy
producers, consultants and researchers around the globe to promote
quality hoof trimming, provide educational opportunities on hoof care,
and improve hoof health. About The Association The Hoof Trimmers Association Inc. evolved from a small group of hoof
trimmers in Minnesota who started meeting in the early 1990s and
gradually met trimmers from other states. In the summer of 1994 about 80
hoof trimmers from across the United States gathered in Wisconsin to
exchange news, information and experiences about hoof trimming. The
group decided to hold a business meeting, formally organize as the Hoof
Trimmers Association, Inc. and continue to meet every 18th month. The Association’s objective is to provide educational opportunities
and mutual support for hoof trimmers and to promote quality trimming. It
accomplishes this by publishing a quarterly newsletter and hosting a
continuing-education conference every 18th month, called the Hoof Health
Conference, for the dairy industry. Through membership dues the
Association hires a part-time executive director to manage the
non-profit organization, publish its newsletter, plan the Conference and
promote the Association. The executive director works with agricultural
media, extension agents, veterinarians, industry representatives and
other organizations to increase hoof health awareness and provide the
industry with accurate information about managing hoof health. The Association helps hoof trimmers network with each other, and all
members of the dairy management team: dairy producers, veterinarians and
nutritionists. The Association has information about hoof diseases,
trimming equipment and supplies, hoof trimming and record keeping.
Proceedings booklets, the guest speakers’ written presentations, are
available from the
2002, 2000, 1999 and 1997 Hoof Health Conferences. Anyone is welcome to join the Association. For more information

It has 400 members in 39 states and 13 countries. • There are about 30 members from Canada. Others come from South
Africa, Sweden, Finland, Ireland, United Kingdom, Switzerland, The
Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Uruguay, Japan and the U.S. • The top 4 membership states are Wisconsin, Minnesota, New York
and Pennsylvania, respectively. • Hoof trimmers, dairy producers, veterinarians, nutritionists,
